Roundup and Paraquat
An Open Letter to Our Clients: February 9, 2023

Next, we want to alert you to some ongoing litigation cases against Monsanto, the producer of Roundup, and Syngenta, the producer of Paraquat.
Roundup is the most widely used herbicide in the world. It is used primarily as a weed killer. It is used by farmers for crops and landscapers for lawns, gardens, parks, and playgrounds. It is used by private citizens on lawns, gardens backyards all over the United States. Millions of pounds of Roundup weed killer are sprayed every year generating over $6 billion in revenue for its Manufacturer, Monsanto.
The problem with this weed killer is that glyphosate is the main ingredient. Many scientists believe glyphosate causes an increased risk for the development of certain forms of cancer, including non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and hairy cell leukemia. The World Health Organization declared it a "probable human carcinogen" due to the ingredient glyphosate. Roundup has also been linked to thyroid cancer and liver cancer.
Glyphosate, a common agent in herbicides, including roundup, targets specific enzymes in weeds to eradicate them without damaging other plants. American farmers, landscapers and the general public spray nearly a pound of glyphosate on every acre of cropland, lawn and garden. The farmers, landscapers and you and I who use Roundup regularly are often exposed to high levels of glyphosate.
Paraquat is such an extremely dangerous herbicide that only licensed, and safety-certified individuals can use it. It is simply not available for homeowners and or public use and it’s not allowed in residential areas.
Yet, even for those licensed and safety-certified to use it risk exposure that causes Parkinson’s Disease. It is one of the most commonly used commercial farming herbicides in the U.S. Thus, many farm workers are exposed and may have developed Parkinson’s Disease as a result.
